How do I receive eternal life and know that I can go to heaven when I die?
You Can Receive God's Gift of Eternal Life Today If you know that: 1. God loves you. 2. You are a sinner. 3. Your sin separates you from God. 4. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for your sin. 5. You need to repent (turn) and receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer: "Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be." If this expresses the desire of your heart, pray this prayer now and Christ will come into your life as He promised and God will give you the gift of eternal life.
How do I become a member of Dublin Baptist Church?
If you would like to join the Dublin Baptist Church Family, please fill out the back of the attendance registration card at the close of the worship service. You will be given an opportunity to come forward during a hymn of decision and present the card to the Pastor at the front of the church. Or, you may simply place the card in the offering plate and one of the Pastors will contact you later. Our church receives people for membership in one of the following ways: 1. By Salvation and Baptism -individuals who are inviting Jesus Christ into their lives to forgive them of their sins and take control of their lives and are willing to be baptized by immersion as a symbol of their new life in Christ. 2. By transfer of Membership or by Statement - individuals who have accepted Christ, have membership in another church and have been immersed as believers in Christ. 3. By Baptism - individuals who have previously accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior but were never immersed. All adult candidates for membership are required to participate in a New Member Orientation Class. This special orientation is offered every 4 - 6 weeks throughout the year. After completion of new member orientation, the candidates shall be voted on by the deacon body at their next regular meeting.
Why should I join Dublin Baptist Church?
One of the most frequently asked questions in the church today is, "Why join?" We clearly live in an age of non-joiners. Many are baby-boomers who are not only less than neutral about joining, but have an inherent distrust of the "system" which prevents them from joining. This last decade has given them many reasons not to trust "organized religion," so we want to reshape their thinking by offering a positive and productive model of membership in the local church. The question still remains: "Why join?" - the answer is commitment. The Christian church is desperately lacking in commitment by her people, commitment both to Christ and His church (His Kingdom). This is reflected in lack of tithes, church hopping, and lack of ministry involvement. It's true. When someone becomes a Christian, they become an automatic "Member" in the kingdom of God. So joining the church has nothing to do with salvation or eternal life. But the church does represent the place of spiritual growth for the believer. The church is the God-ordained place of spiritually gifted ministry by those who are part of the team. Teams require commitment. Professional athletes do not collect paychecks without playing ball! (Well, most of them!) This certainly is not works-righteousness. We are saved by faith alone, but this is "team ball." That is the central commitment you are making. The new member is signing up to "play ball" on our ministry team.
